Mindful Morning Rituals | 3 Caffeine Free Ways to Feel Vibrant

You know those mornings when the alarm goes off and the last thing you want to do is leave the cozy, warm and inviting comfort of bed? Yep, me too. On those days, almost nothing seems more essential than a cup of bottomless organic coffee, and while that’s all well and good once in a while, there are actually a number of easy, caffeine free ways to perk yourself up to take on the day with ease. Today, I’m sharing 3 simple ways to feel your most vibrant, without a single cup of the black stuff.

  1. Smell

I love aromatherapy – obviously. These little wonders of wellness have played an integral part in my wellness journey and I use them daily when I need a little help. Whether I’m stressed, tired, anxious or unsure - there’s an oil for that! Essential oils are made up of volatile plant matter (think of the smell from zesting a lime or rubbing mint between your fingers) and each one is made up of hundreds of chemical compounds that ignite a physiological response in the body.

Self-care tip: For a quick boost in the morning, reach for Recharge. A simple, yet beautiful combination of peppermint and rosemary, this is the perfect oil to energize and prepare you for the day. In fact, rosemary oil contains a compound called 1,8 cineole which has been shown to increase blood flow to the cerebrum and improve alertness.

  1. Move

I’ve spoken about it before, and I’ll mention it again here for good measure. Regular exercise (whatever that might look like for you) is an excellent and essential way to encourage healthy circulation and blood flow in the body. Work an office job or sit in front of your computer for the majority of your day? Your lymph system could probably use a little help too! Lymph is made up of vessels and nodes that carry nutrients, lymph and between body tissues and the blood stream. When we’re sedentary it has a difficult time moving through the body as it should which can in turn affect energy levels!

Self-care tip: Try incorporating dry brushing or self-massage to your daily routine, get up from your desk every 30 minutes for a quick stretch or downward dog (ignore the strange looks), and prioritize regular workouts – with a no cancellation policy!

  1. Nourish

The foods we choose to nourish our bodies with play a vital role in our well-being long term, but also impact the way we feel day to day. Choosing nutrient dense foods that work with your unique biochemical makeup will help you feel vibrant and energized even on the longest day.

Self-care tip: I love adding medicinal mushrooms to my daily elixirs to help boost energy and stamina. Cordyceps is known as the ‘Elixir of Life’ and helps to encourage energy, passion and drive, while also enhancing immune, brain and heart function, so I love adding it to morning smoothies for a quick boost.
