Burn, Baby // Candle Care

The string tied around the washer of your Woodlot candle box forces you to slow down. We designed it that way on purpose, so you can’t just rip it open and throw it away.

The perfect ritual to ground and centre during a busy holiday season, consider it a moment of mindfulness amidst the chaos.

This year, create a self-care sanctuary and get lit with Woodlot.

The first burn sets the tone for the rest of the candle.

Candles add light, beauty and a sense of ritual to almost any occasion, and as we know many of you will be burning our essential oil candles this season, we wanted to take this opportunity to share our favourite usage tips so you can enjoy your candles worry free :)

Read on for more information, and feel free to get in touch with any questions!

  1. For your candle’s first lighting, burn it for 2 - 4 hours to establish a full melt pool. This also prevents tunneling or any candle waste.
  2. Trim the wick to ¼ inch for each subsequent burn. Trimming the wick allows your candle to burn at the recommended and safe temperature. Not trimming regularly can cause the wick to mushroom, resulting in a hotter burn.
  3. Burn your candle for no longer than four hours at a time, as doing so can cause the glass to overheat.
  4. It’s time for a new candle when ¼ inch of wax remains

Remember to always keep your burning candle in sight, make sure candle is placed on a stable, solid surface and keep wax pool free of wick trimmings and other debris.

Due to our candles being made from natural ingredients, there can be some variation from one candle to the next, so it's important to keep an eye on your candle and exercise caution when in use.

Thank you for bringing Woodlot into your homes, enjoy!
