After an amazing week in LA we’re back in the studio and still dreaming of those warm, chilled out LA vibes. Woodlot was on location for Indie Beauty Expo – a trade show filled to the brim with green beauty aficionados. It was so inspiring to spend time with a group of knowledgeable beauty bloggers, passionate indie beauty founders and shoppers who appreciate a more intentional approach to beauty. We left feeling so grateful and can’t wait to share some exciting new launches with you soon.
Of course, a week in LA wouldn’t be complete without stops at a few of our favourite LA haunts. With all of the gorgeous shops, beach sunsets, gourmet coffee and fresh, local eats it was hard to narrow down our top 5 - so we got the inside scoop thanks to Vanessa Ho of The Clean Curator. Here’s a summary of her must-dos:
Blue Star Donuts
Blueberry bourbon basil donut… do we really need to say anything else? Blue Star Donuts is your go-to for fresh, carefully crafted donuts in Venice. More than just a donut shop, Blue Star partners with local businesses to source fresh ingredients, selects coffee to pair perfectly with their mouth-watering treats and designs clean, beautiful shops so you can leave your worries at the door. A mindful moment – with donuts. #yesplease

The Butcher’s Daughter
With gorgeous greenery oozing out of every corner, The Butcher’s Daughter is possibly the most Instagrammable location on our list and with a menu packed with fresh juices and avocado toast, it’s easy to understand why this is one of LA’s most popular spots. Sit down for a Butcher Bowl and an elixir shot and let the good vibes roll.

Shuhari Matcha Café
For a little caffeine buzz without the midafternoon crash grab an almond matcha latte from Shuhari Café in Venice. This café uses fresh, pure green tea imported from Japan and you can taste the difference immediately. If you’re feeling really cheeky reach for a towering cone of matcha soft serve – it’s still healthy if it’s matcha, right?

We’re proud to have a number of amazing stockists located in the area. From carefully curated artisan shops to beauty studios and yoga studios - make sure you stop in to stock up on coconut wax candles, ethically sourced palo santo and refreshing everyday mists to incorporate into your daily rituals.
Santa Monica Pier
If you’re in LA and don’t Instagram the Santa Monica Pier – were you even really there? There’s almost nothing more soothing than the sounds of waves crashing on the beach – and if you happen to catch a sunset you’ll know why this is a must-see tourist destination. Even better? Avoid the crowds and rent a bike from any of the various oceanfront shops - spend the day people watching as you coast from Venice to Santa Monica.
LA – we love you, until next time.
