Woodlot Rituals // Summer Skin

If space heater season left your skin dry and flaky, you’ll want to boost moisture and start rehabbing now. With months of beach time and delicious sunshine sprinting our way, we’re indulging in some of our favourite all-natural rituals to encourage a smooth, glowy, summer ready complexion.

Get Steamy.

Looking to land naturally glowing, dewy, hydrated skin this summer? Get steamy once a week to help your face get the moisture it so desperately needs after a dry winter season. Hover your face over a gentle steam to soften skin, and help it soak up any moisturizing ingredients you slather on after.

HOW TO: After cleansing your face completely, bring 3-4 cups of water to an almost-boil and pour it into a large glass bowl. Add ingredients of choice (we’re loving a few sprigs of lavender and 5-10 drops of Flora!) then lean over the bowl so your face is 6-8 inches above the water and create a tent around your head and bowl with a large, clean towel to keep the steam diverted to your face. Stay like this for five minutes, breathe deep, and let the steam work its wonders.

Get Scrubbing.

homemade body scrub is truly one of the easiest DIY rituals around and there’s no better time to whip one up than when you’re prepping skin for summer. Use it all over or on particularly rough patches (knees, elbows, etc.) to slough off dead, itchy skin that may have built up over the cold winter months. Just be sure to load up on moisturizer after to keep that skin hydrated and comfortable.

HOW TO: So easy it hurts. Combine granulated sugar (we like coconut because of the fine granule size) with one part oil and 10-20 drops of your favorite Woodlot Essential Oil Blend.

Get Masking.

For an added dose of hydration on top of your daily serums, oils and moisturizers, consider treating yourself to a dryness-combating mask once a week with just a few simple ingredients.

HOW TO: Combine 1 teaspoon of honey with a small amount of water and our Rejuvenating Green Tea Clay Mask. Spread it around your face and hang out for 5-10 minutes before removing. Raw honey is a humectant, meaning it attracts moisture to the skin while also healing and exfoliating for a bright, dewy, summer ready complexion!
