Recipe: Ginger Turmeric Lemonade

Growing up, my mom would always start and end our days with some sort of warm turmeric drink. Being the kid that I am, I fought all things Ayurvedic or influenced by the East. In recent years, I find myself coming back to the simplicity found in these rituals, and with summer days full of wine + tortilla chips, this recipe keeps me feeling good, all summer long. 

Recipe:
3 - 4 chunks ginger
1 teaspoon turmeric powder (or 3 - 4 chunks fresh turmeric root)
Juice of two lemons
Sweetener to taste (Date powder, honey, maple syrup, raw sugar)
4 cups of water

Simmer water, ginger + turmeric for 20 minutes
Add lemon juice, sweetener and stir
Enjoy warm or cold
